In Tune with Tradition: The Private Session Experience
A private, curated immersion for experienced adult musicians who want to understand how Irish music sessions actually work and to participate strategically, with confidence, cultural awareness and precision.
Dates: Mon. 28th September - Fri. 2nd October 2026
This experience is for you if…
You value Irish traditional music deeply but have felt unsure of your place within a session.
You may have:
Walked into a session and felt out of place
Chosen not to return, rather than risk feeling awkward or unwelcome
Reached a stage in life where dignity, subtlety, and cultural understanding matter more than proving yourself
You may be a competent musician who is comfortable learning but not willing to rely on trial and error in a setting where the signals are unspoken.
What you will gain:
You will develop the cultural and musical fluency required to operate confidently and appropriately inside high-level Irish sessions. You'll:
Understand how sessions are shaped in real time
Recognise the behaviours that build trust, and those that quietly undermine it
Know when to step forward, when to hold back, and why that distinction matters
Stop second-guessing your place in a session
Even strong musicians can struggle in Irish sessions without this understanding.
What this experience is:
The Private Session Experience is a 5 day structured immersion into the real dynamics of Irish traditional music sessions in Ireland.
You will observe and experience:
how musicians listen, assess and respond
how inclusion happens and how it is sometimes withheld
how session flow is maintained without being spoken about
It is not:
a performance retreat
a casual music holiday
or a tune learning bootcamp
Who this is designed for:
This is a premium, small-group experience. Investment details are shared with suitable applicants after initial conversation to ensure the right fit.
It is designed for musicians who value depth over visibility, understand the importance of cultural awareness, and want to take part in sessions at a higher level, regardless of skill level.
