Etiquette is an invisible social behaviour in place in every walk of life, whether you are entering a new work place, learning to drive or joining an Irish music session. There are social 'norms' which keep us all safe and keep a tradition alive. The people that have walked the path before us have figured out ways to share the space as a team which are beneficial to the greatest amount of people in that setting.
Irish music sessions are no different. The etiquette is not a set of rules but more like a set of guidelines that benefit a group of people that share a space and a music together. Within it comes great responsibility to ensure that our participation in that environment suits the current vibe and that it can add to the vibe and the shared space rather than detract from it.
Read through the various sections in this learning hub to understand more about how you can add to a session vibe.
